1827-07-22: Tombstone, “Henry Parker / son of / John and Eve Clark / Aug. 14, 1825 / July 22, 1827,” Old Cemetery, St. John the Evangelist (Saint Johns on the Ridge), Carroll Manor Road, Hydes, Balto. Co., MD, transcribed by Clarence Joerndt in 1970, recorded in "Baltimore Cemeteries, Volume I: Northern Baltimore County," collected by the Baltimore County Historical Society. As of 1986 and Sept 2009, this headstone is no longer evident in the cemetery.  Find A Grave Memorial# 42576766, created by Chris Deaver.  This was the original cemetery for St. Johns on the Ridge.  A wooden church stood on the site from 1822 until it burned down in 1855.  As of 1986 and Sep. 2009 only two carved headstones remain visible, along with a few footstones and a number of graves marked by uncut fieldstones.

 

1828-05-28:  Balto. Co. deed, dated 28 May 1828, Amon Bosley of BC farm let to John Clark of BC (or his executors, administrators or assigns) 1 acre, more or less, starting from a stone marked “no. 1” on the west edge of the Baltimore and York Turnpike road, N 82.5° W 13.75 p. (1 p. = 16.5 ft.), S 16.5° E 12.8 p + 1 link (1 link = 7.92 in.), S 82.5° E 13.75 p. to a stone marked “no. 4” standing on the west edge of the aforesaid Turnpike, N 16° 30' W 12.8 p + 1 link along the Turnpike to the start, from 25 Jan. 1828 for 99 years at $20/year rent to Amon Bosley, his heirs or assigns.  [BC-LR-WG-194, pp. 210, 211, 212, 213, 214].  (1 a. = 43,560 sq. ft.)

1849-06-04: Balto. Co. LR, vol. AWB 414 pp. 387-389: John Clark purchased 23+ acres (in Texas, Balto. Co.) from Charles A. & Ann L. (nee Ann Lux Cockey) Buchanan, for $1290.78.  Thomas Galloway purchased 443+ acres from the Buchanans on this same day, bordering this property.

  On the morning of the 27th inst., JOHN CLARK, formerly of Baltimore county, aged 72 years. [York county papers please copy.]

  The funeral service will be held in St. Mary’s Church, Govanstown, on this (Thursday) afternoon.  Carriages will leave his late residence, No. 75 Biddle street, at two o’clock.  His friends and acquaintance are invited to attend.

    CLARKE—On the 15th instant, EVE, relict of the late John Clarke, of Baltimore county, in her 73d(?) year.

  The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend her funeral this (Thursday) morning, 17th instant, at half past nine o’clock, from her late residence, No 73(?) West Biddle(?) street, to proceed to St. Mary’s Church, Govanstown, where a Requiem Mass will be said.
